A special trip to Lake Erie at South Bass Island with my cousin Sonny turned up several hefty smallmouth bass. I was demonstrating how the tube bait worked and caught this nice bass in 8 to 10 feet of water. The weather was very nice and the waves were minimal. We plan on returning same time in 2011.

Wow! First trip to Lake Erie on South Bass Island with cousin Rick. We went smallmouth bass fishing and I managed to hook & land this scrappy prize weighing in at 5 lb 3 oz. Name: Sonny Gura ------ Date: Spring of 2009
Type of Fish: Musky ------ Size: 34 inch ------ From Piedmont Lake, Ohio

Hi, I'm Sonny and I love to fish. During May of 2010 I was at Piedmont Lake on a friend's boat and my cousin Rick happened upon us in his boat. I asked what's biting today and he told me to get my gear and get in his boat and we'd go fish for a while. We didn't go far at all maybe 200 feet from the boat I was on. I asked what are they hitting on. Cousin Rick tied on a double tandem white spinner bait and said this will work for Musky & bass. Sure enough on the first cast this musky went for the spinner bait and the fight was on! After landing this musky we caught some bass. Sure had a fun day!

Name: Brenda Z. ----- Date: Summer of 2010
Type of fish: Smallmouth Bass ----- Size: 4 to 5 lbs ----- From: Lake Ontario

My name is Brenda. My husband and I live in Lansing, Ohio. We went fishing in Canada up on Lake Ontario. We caught 10 small mouth bass. When we came off the lake it was dark and late, so we took the fish as per our guides request and put them on ice to be filleted a little later. Smallmouth bass are very tasty when well cleaned. A friend, Rick, owner of the website outdoorsmanrd.com recommended this tutorial for filleting bass.

Name: Rick Duill ------ Date: November 2009 ------ Type of Fish: Walleye Size: 13 lb 3 oz. ------ From: Lake Erie at South Bass Island near Saunders cottage area.

They say the big ones come near shore in the late fall. Every year during the first week of November I spend my birthday at South Bass Island in hopes of hooking and landing a big walleye. Well this year I was gifted with this brute which gave me an awesome memory of what it feels like to experience the strength of a walleye this size. Incredibly enough I was fishing from shore casting a large rapala type bait basically keeping the line wet. What a surprise when what I thought to be a snag turned out to be this trophy.

Name: Tyler C. Winski ----- Date: 7/11/09
Type of fish: Muskie ----- Size: 37 1/2 inches ----- From: Piedmont Lake

My name is Tyler C. Winski and I live in St. Clairsville, Ohio. My family has a cabin at Piedmont Lake and we fish almost every weekend. Each year for the past 3 years I have caught a Muskie and, again, this year's Muskie was a keeper. It measured 37 1/2 inches and weighed 12.5 lbs. How many 14 year olds can say they have caught a Muskie, let alone three of them. Not many, I would think. I enjoy fishing, especially when I catch the big ones. Now I'm going to hold out for the big one of at least 50 inches. Hope to be writing you again soon with news of my big catch.
